The School of Public Finance and Taxation (SPFT) is one of the oldest and most recognized unit at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE). First established in 1952 known as “the Department of Public Finance”, SPFT later adopted the current name in 1991 to become one of the first schools in the country in these areas.
SPFT provides undergraduate, master’s, doctoral degrees, which offer courses in tax planning, public finance, public budgeting, taxation in China, and many more. In the 2018 academic year, there are more than 900 undergraduates, over 320 masters, and 40 full time doctoral students.
In recent years, the School has been recruiting faculty members internationally, whose publications have been appearing in the top China economic journals (Social Sciences in China, Economic Research Journal, Management World), as well as respected international field journals such as American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Annals of Economics and Finance, International Economic Review, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Mathematical Economics, Empirical Economics, Emerging Markets Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Social Choice and Welfare, China Economic Review, Review of Industrial Organization, Political Studies, industrial and labor relations review.
SPFT placement record is top ranked among similar programs in China. Graduates are distinguished financial specialists, outstanding entrepreneurs, influential government leaders, and nationally recognized scholars. In the coming years, the School will continue to strive for excellence and maintain her achievements in both teaching and research.
